What does Music Momentum do?
Before a session, the user is asked to input a 'target minimum speed' value (TMS) that they would like to keep on par with (or above), while they walk, jog or run. The app then calculates the current speed of the user and if at any stage they fall below their target speed, the mobile app slows down the playing speed of their music.
In order to get the music back playing normally again, the user must accelerate their pace to match their target speed (TMS). Alternatively, they can reduce their target speed to a value below their current speed they are moving. Once their current speed has a greater value than their target speed, the music will play at its normal playing rate. In essence, it turns the outdoors into your own personal treadmill.
Will it work with my Spotify or Apple Music?
No. The app needs to read a .wav, .aiff or .mp3 audio file in order for it to process the playing speed of the music. Subscription apps like Spotify and Apple Music do not permit such access to their audio files at this time, so Music Momentum is its own stand-alone application and not compatible with such 3rd party music subscription apps. The app includes its own music library that can be used to create customizable playlists by the user. Here the user can load their favourite songs into the app and use it during their walk, jog and running sessions.
Any music that's on the device, such as music that is purchased from iTunes or music files copied to the phone, is compatible with the Music Momentum app.
*NB- Music Momentum is not intended to be a music app like Spotify. It is a Fitness app that uses your music to help you achieve a better workout and get a better walk, jog and run time!
