Audiences want to see live local music but shows can be hard to find and tickets can be expensive. Venues can’t sell their last-minute tickets at a discount because they don’t want to hurt advance sales, even though an estimated 40% of concert tickets go unsold every year.
MusicTown Live is an app that solves that problem by selling Mystery Tickets, which are discounted last minute tickets for users who buy before learning the name of the venue. Venues can offload last minute tickets at no risk and users can see cheaper shows. MusicTown Live is also a one stop hub for the local music scene. MusicTown Live has the most comprehensive list of local music shows available and users can save events, follow bands and venues, share events with friends, search, and buy tickets.
MusicTown live is currently available on iOS and Android and lists hundreds of shows every night in the Washington, DC area. In the first twelve months of operation MusicTown Live has attracted over 1,400 users. We use a proprietary supervised scraping system to list more shows than any other concert discovery app and we have already gathered a database of over 10,000 artists in the local area.
