Promova

Promova is a one-stop solution for all your language learning needs. What started as a simple flashcard app in 2019, and over the years it became a comprehensive platform that covers all aspects of online language learning. To maximize users’ results, Promova combines different tools for remote learning, such as bite-sized lessons in self-learning courses, tutoring programs (individual and group lessons with certified tutors), conversation clubs, an educational blog, interactive social media, and a community of fellow learners. All of the tools are available in the mobile app and on the web.

Promova advocates for goal-oriented, personalized, immersive and accessible language learning. We believe that the best results come from setting clear goals at the start. That's why all learners go through an in-depth assessment of their current level and language-learning needs first thing.

Our self-learning courses are based on our authored methodology, which was created by top language professionals. We adapt each user's plan by considering their interests, language level, availability, and needs. Each of Promova’s 11 courses contain cultural context cards that provide a deeper understanding of how different cultures operate.

Tutoring programs offer individual or group training. For learners who opt for 1-on-1 sessions, teachers prepare a tailored, individual learning plan that considers their interests, current language level, goals, needs, strengths, and weaknesses. Group training provides the option to learn at their own pace by taking several lessons a week with the option to study in the morning, afternoon, or evening each time they study. To complete a level, they need to work through 100–150 lessons on grammar, vocabulary, conversation, pronunciation, etc. in whatever order they like.

Promova was the first language learning app to offer English taught in English back in 2020. So far, English in English is the most popular self-learning course at Promova.

To help learners improve their memorization, we use a multisensory content approach that engages users visually, aurally, and orally. And every word or phrase has its own unique illustration made by a human being. This helps users create a mental association with the word, phrase, or idiom. Learners can work on their pronunciation using our own ML system, which gives feedback on their speech.

At Promova, we believe that language learning should be inclusive and accessible for everyone. In October 2023, we launched Dyslexia Mode, which helps people with dyslexia learn new languages by presenting content in Dysfont, a dyslexia-friendly font.

As of March 2024, Promova counts over 14M downloads and 1.5M MAU worldwide. Our users rate the product 4.6 out 5 on app stores. We constantly receive positive feedback for our self-learning courses and our tutoring programs. Some of our learners share their success stories with us. For instance, one user got a job in an international company after taking our Business English course and using its lessons to prepare for a job interview. Another student was accepted to a US university after taking our tutoring lessons.

Another point of pride for us is that in November 2023, Promova became an official participant in a Ukrainian national program Future Perfect, initiated by President Volodymyr Zelensky. As part of the program, we gave all Ukrainians three years of free access to all of our self-learning courses. To date, over 100K Ukrainians have used this offer.
