Recently we had an opportunity to speak with Tim, the Founder / CEO at All Roadside Assistance about All Roadside Assistance

Please share with us the backstory of what motivated you to create this app.

We aim to be the most transparent 100% free to use directory out there. We created All Roadside Assistance because we saw a hole in the breakdown directory niche. Most of the directories operate on a pay to play mentality. Meaning the more you're willing to pay, the higher they will place you over the competition. This means that a shop that can't afford to be #1 will show up lower in the search results. They could provide a better service then the #1 guy, but because that shop is paying more, the shop that couldn't afford to won't get the job. This type of transaction hurts two people. First, it hurts the driver looking for help. They want the best repair company available, and it also hurts the honest shop. With All Roadside Assistance, all of the vendors pay the same price. Our app is also 100% free to use to find breakdown service and other locations. You don't even have to create an account.

The other thing we found was that when the directories send call reports at the end of the month to the vendor to let them know how their listing did. They always include "estimated." We here at All Roadside Assistance want the vendor to understand how their listing is doing. We want to be transparent. So, we created a dashboard that tracks all user interactions with your business on our website and mobile apps. We track when mobile users call you, how many views your listing gets when users click to visit your website, and you'll even be notified when they leave a review. Everything is displayed in your dashboard and accessible anytime you want. You'll know exactly how your business listing is performing with All Roadside Assistance.

What features do you hope to roll out to your app in the future?

We are constantly updating the number of listings we have on the directory, adding new ones, removing companies that may have gone out of business, updating information. Etc. We want to make sure our directory is the most up to date, so it is beneficial to our users.

We are also working on adding a dealer locator. This will allow users to locate dealers for some of the top semi-truck brands out there.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of the creation of this app?

We are a breakdown directory. The most rewarding part is seeing our users use our platform to find breakdown services is very fulfilling. It is very dangerous to be broken down on the side of the road, and it is also a very stressful situation. Our mission is to provide truck drivers, carriers, and everyday drivers with easy, reliable, and fast access to service locations across North America.

What is the coolest or most innovative feature of your app?

The coolest feature is the sheer number of listings we have. We have 17 different categories and Tens of thousands of listings accessible within seconds, all with the tip of your finger.

The 2nd coolest feature is the ability for users to save their favorite repair vendors or locations; this way, they can easily be found again.

The most innovative feature on the vendor side of things is our listing dashboard. Our dashboard tracks all user interactions with your business on our website and mobile apps. We track when mobile users call you, how many views your listing gets when users click to visit your website, and you'll even be notified when they leave a review. Everything is displayed in your dashboard and accessible anytime you want. You'll know exactly how your business listing is performing with All Roadside Assistance.

What surprised you most in your journey to create this app?

The overwhelming support we have gotten from everyone. Our Social Media is growing fast, and our user growth is through the roof. The whole experience has been great.

Which other mobile apps or technology have inspired you?

We're big fans of Waze, they have created an amazing community of users who like helping each other out. We love data and are constantly refining and improving the app.

Do you have any recommendations or advice for others wanting to create a mobile app?

The great Mark Twain once said, “The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and starting on the first one."

Start by understanding what your users want. Build what is necessary to get started. From there, you can start to implement all the other possibilities. If you try and plan for everything, you will never get started in the first place.

How did you decide which platforms to release your app on and do you plan on releasing your app to other platforms?

Our users are iPhone and Android users, so it was easy to make sure we were there for them. We also created a full-fledge web-based version as well. This in ensures that no matter how our users want to access our directory, they are able to do so.

How is your app different than the rest of the market? Which unique need does it fill?

We are the only breakdown directory with a vendor dashboard. Vendors can access their dashboard anytime they want, which allows them to see all user interactions with their listing. Most breakdown directories only provide “estimated" number of calls. With our dashboard, there are no estimates.

The 2nd thing that sets us apart is the number of listings we have. We are the largest directory featuring 17+ categories and Tens of thousands of listings including Mobile Road Service, Repair Shops, Towing Services, Truck Stop & Wash Locator, Dealer Locator, Motels with Truck Parking, Truck Friendly Rest Stops and Weigh Stations.

We truly are The Best Nationwide Source of Heavy & Light Duty Breakdown Service Locations.
