Recently we had an opportunity to speak with Pavel Repkin, the Founder at YoWindow Weather about YoWindow Weather

Please share with us the backstory of what motivated you to create this app.

I was surprised that there was no similar weather app. It seems so obvious - we all used to look out of the window to check out the weather. So I just started to write the code that reflects weather data in animated sky and landscape.

What features do you hope to roll out to your app in the future?

- Mini games inside the landscapes.

- Night city photographs.

- Air quality index.

- Severe weather notifications.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of the creation of this app?

The love of our users, of course.

And the process of making the app.

I've been working for more than 10 years on YoWindow and I'm not getting tired.

What is the coolest or most innovative feature of your app?

I think the most impressive feature is the time scrolling.

You just swipe the screen and you see how the weather is going to change through the day and night.

It's like looking into the future.

Have you ever experienced the weather forecast this way?

What surprised you most in your journey to create this app?

How hard it's to spread the word.

No matter how hard you try creating a cool app, still you have to put lots of efforts to let the world know.

Which other mobile apps or technology have inspired you?

Weather Watcher and Weather Timelines are the cool apps.

Do you have any recommendations or advice for others wanting to create a mobile app?

Try to keep your app idea simple. Complex ideas are hard to make without a team.

Go with Flutter on mobile.

How did you decide which platforms to release your app on and do you plan on releasing your app to other platforms?

We launched on Windows back in 2009.

It was a natural evolution because the graphics was made with Flash and it was not easy to migrate to mobiles.

Then on iOS in 2012 and Android version was out in 2014.

How is your app different than the rest of the market? Which unique need does it fill?

Most weather apps just show the data.

YoWindow designed to make the weather look natural, beautiful and simple.

The app is reflecting the weather in scenic landscapes.

A landscape is constantly changing to the actual weather changes.

The daylight, Sunsets, Moon phase - all this real.
