Recently we had an opportunity to speak with John Fijen, the CEO at SolidAppMaker about nClarity

Please share with us the backstory of what motivated you to create this app.

Transforming Building Data into Business Value

We believe that data is an untapped resource. nClarity goes beyond mere monitoring to unlock the business value inherent in your building's operations. Whether you are a service provider, building owner, or an energy engineer, our award-winning app ensures you can deliver superior value for all stakeholders.

Introducing nClarity - Revolutionizing AI-Driven Service Delivery

nClarity, developed by SolidAppmaker, is the ultimate app for optimizing building performance and ensuring seamless service operations. With its cutting-edge AI-driven capabilities, nClarity harnesses real-time building data to predict potential failures, enabling proactive responses that prevent costly disruptions for owners, occupants, and service teams.

App Description:

nClarity is a powerful Service Manager and Virtual Tech Dashboard that empowers you with complete control over your building's performance. Experience real-time and historical performance charts, providing valuable insights into machine operating characteristics such as EER, kW, and efficiency. Stay ahead of potential concerns and compressor failures with our advanced warning system. With nClarity, you can access the same information as your on-site technicians, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.

Key Features:

1. Real-Time Performance Monitoring: Monitor your building's performance with 24x7 real-time data collection. Accessible via web and mobile platforms, nClarity provides you with up-to-the-minute insights into key parameters, including return, supply, and outside air temperatures, relative humidity, kW, amps, volts, power factor, refrigerant temperatures, and pressures.

2. Machine State Identification: Stay informed about your HVAC system's operation with nClarity. Identify calls for heat, cool, and fan, as well as the position of the reversing valve. This comprehensive view of your machines' states allows for quick troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

3. Dispatcher Dashboard: Gain a summary view of service areas and building locations through the Dispatcher Dashboard. Easily identify units that require attention and escalate machine snapshots to virtual techs or field technicians for swift resolution. Schedule predictive services even before customers detect any issues.

4. Seamless Data Collection: nClarity seamlessly collects data from the nClarity Pulse Sensing Unit installed on the rooftop. This advanced sensing technology monitors the health of your RTUs, capturing 24x7 real-time performance data. Measure air temperatures, relative humidity, liquid pressures, and power consumption across up to four separate HVAC circuits per machine.

Key value of the app

Transforming Building Data to Business Value

nClarity was founded on the idea that building data can be unlocked and turned into business value. Using a combination of real-time monitoring, environmental data, usage and power consumption, service providers, building owners and energy engineers can deliver superior value for their stakeholders.

Motivation

The genesis of nClarity came from a realization that buildings, especially the commercial ones, are teeming with data every second, yet a significant portion of this data remains untapped or underutilized. We saw immense potential in harnessing this data to deliver transformative insights that could radically change the way buildings are managed and services are delivered. The traditional reactive approach to building management, where problems are addressed only when they become evident, seemed outdated in an era driven by AI and predictive analytics. Our motivation was to shift this paradigm from reactive to proactive, ensuring that building managers could anticipate and act before a potential problem turned into a costly disruption. Moreover, the opportunity to transform this raw data into tangible business value and drive operational excellence for stakeholders was too compelling to pass up. That passion for innovation and a desire to make a difference in the building management ecosystem led to the birth of nClarity.

How is your app different than the rest of the market? Which unique need does it fill?

Our app, nClarity, which we as SolidAppMAker, build for nClarity, has been crafted with a unique blend of AI-driven capabilities that target a holistic approach to building performance optimization and service operations. Unlike most apps that focus merely on monitoring, nClarity goes a step further. It predicts potential failures, enabling proactive responses. This forward-thinking model not only minimizes disruptions but also unlocks the business value inherent in a building's operations. It's designed to benefit everyone from service providers to building owners and energy engineers.

What is the coolest or most innovative feature of your app?

One of the standout features is the "Machine State Identification." It offers users a comprehensive view of their HVAC system's operational status. This feature, combined with our advanced warning system, can detect calls for heat, cool, and fan, ensuring that building managers can anticipate and resolve problems before they escalate.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of the creation of this app?

Winning the "Best Mobile App Award" for July 2023 has certainly been a highlight and a testament to our team's hard work and innovation. However, on a deeper level, witnessing the tangible impact nClarity has had on building owners, service providers, and occupants by enhancing efficiency and collaboration has been truly rewarding.

What surprised you most in your journey to create this app?

The sheer potential of building data to transform into business value was an enlightening discovery. The idea that real-time monitoring combined with various environmental data points can lead to such profound operational insights and proactive service delivery was both surprising and inspiring.

How did you decide which platforms to release your app on and do you plan on releasing your app to other platforms?

Our decision was driven by the objective to maximize accessibility and user engagement. We wanted our tool to be available both on web and mobile platforms for immediate and on-the-go access. As for expanding to other platforms, we're always assessing user needs and market trends, and if there's a demand, we're prepared to adapt and expand.

Which other mobile apps or technology have inspired you?

Various AI-driven platforms and real-time monitoring apps in the market have paved the way for our development. Apps that harness the power of data and transform it into actionable insights have always been a source of inspiration for our team.

What features do you hope to roll out to your app in the future?

We're currently exploring enhancements in data analytics and predictive algorithms to make failure predictions even more precise. Furthermore, integration with other building management systems and expanding our machine learning capabilities to capture a broader range of operational patterns are on our radar.

Do you have any recommendations or advice for others wanting to create a mobile app?

Start with understanding a genuine problem or need. Once you've identified that, focus on creating an intuitive user experience. While features and functionalities are essential, simplicity and usability often determine an app's success. And, always be ready to evolve based on user feedback and technological advancements.
