Recently we had an opportunity to speak with JD Meints, the CEO at NuLife Virtual about NuLife Virtual

Please share with us the backstory of what motivated you to create this app.

It is a very personal problem for having suffered from the disease of Alcoholism and not getting proper treatment because the current model of treatment would not work for me. After getting sober I opened 4 treatment centers in Los Angeles serving all levels of care and learned what worked and what did not. Prior to opening treatment centers, I was the founder of two technology (SaaS) companies and understand the power of technology and how to get a product to market. In 2017 I started one of the first completely online virtual outpatient treatment programs in the country and realized that it worked and people liked it.

I know what its like to talk to a distraught parent who doesn't know what to do and one who has been given their loved one back thru recovery. I can do this because this is what I am.

What features do you hope to roll out to your app in the future?

We are most excited to build NuLife Match our AI recommendation engine that will provide our consumers & providers with the best possible connections, content, treatment paths and interventions.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of the creation of this app?

Just the journey of bringing a dream to reality in hopes that we can change the world of addiction. To talk with potential consumers of the app and the providers who will use it to build community around their services, to see their excitement and to hear them say "WOW" why doesn't this exist already.

What is the coolest or most innovative feature of your app?

The ability for anyone in, looking or working in recovery to connect and build relationships that are supportive and inspirational above and beyond their disease. By enabling people to make connections with peers and professionals that are safe and genuine we get to make a positive impact on addiction.

What surprised you most in your journey to create this app?

How long it took and the rollercoaster of emotions based on feedback.

Which other mobile apps or technology have inspired you?

Our inspiration was around apps that build community & connection then we wanted to build in the clinical workflows that would allow the overworked and short staffed treatment providers to reach more people so that the 90% of people who don't get help have access to care.

Our inspiration came from everything from Facebook Groups, Clubhouse, Calm, Headspace, Orange Theory and some others.

Do you have any recommendations or advice for others wanting to create a mobile app?

Write down your plan, talk to as many people as you can, build some wireframe designs get feedback and build an MVP to get to market.

How did you decide which platforms to release your app on and do you plan on releasing your app to other platforms?

Addiction & mental health is a global issue so we needed a global solution. The APP is currently on the Apple & Google App stores and we may also release a web version in the future.

How is your app different than the rest of the market? Which unique need does it fill?

Our community healthcare ecosystem incorporates telehealth with the three most important covenants of recovery, life integration, social support, and community. The NuLife APP has a social networking feel that blends traditional treatment programs with personalized prescriptions to on demand content, communities, support groups and peers. We keep people engaged between their sessions providing better insights to their home & life.
