We had a chance to speak to Rajesh Midha, Chief Product Officer at ooVoo about ooVoo Video Chat

Could you share a challenging factor of the development or marketing process?

Conducting QA testing on hundreds of devices is a challenging factor we encounter during development. However, we recognize that it is important that all of our users have the most fluid experience regardless of the device or platform they are using.

Do you plan on releasing your app to other platforms as well?

Currently, we have apps for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Mac, PC, and Facebook. We definitely have new platforms planned, which you will see later this year.

If you could describe your app in ONE word, what would it be and why?

Open. Open up with the ones you really care about with ooVoo and also open up your app with the ooVoo Video Platform SDK – a product where we power video communication in your app. Opening up to those around you, makes a more connected and better world.

Were there any unexpected surprises post-release of your app?

We were surprised with how much users enjoy doing in person activities via video chat. Study groups meet on ooVoo, people play music on ooVoo, and some users even watch TV together.

What features do you hope to roll out to your app in the future?

We have lots of new, cool features planned for this year and next year. Most build on our concept of Intelligent Video, which includes adding emotion sensing, facial recognition, and other new technologies to our platform that will in turn drive new consumer and business use cases.

What is the coolest or most innovative feature of your app?

Our users love our group video capability – chat with up to 12 people in rich, high-quality video chat from any smartphone, no matter what the network conditions.

What is your favorite mobile app to date and which have inspired you?

We love Instagram. It is so visual and is one our users really like too.

What was your main objective or motivation for creating your mobile app?

At ooVoo, we create technology that enables people to make close relationships closer and allow every moment in their lives to be sharable. We act as a catalyst for vibrant experiences. We give people the ability to spend time together, wherever they are. We open up what life is: a string of experiences, together, with the people we care about.
