Recently we had an opportunity to speak with Jonathan Parker-Bray , the CEO & Founder at Cryptique about Pryvate

Please share with us the backstory of what motivated you to create this app.

Throughout my career I've been fascinated by the latest trends in the mobile, telecoms and technology industries. The motivation behind Pryvate was the sharp rise in data hacking, theft and surveillance. We pinpointed the trend in encryption technology and the critical need for business and personal communications to remain totally private and free from hacking.

Our aim is to help businesses and consumers to understand the real risk of a potential data breach that exists when they use their smartphones to communicate on a daily basis. With mass data surveillance taking place on an unprecedented scale by a myriad of sources, Pryvate is solving the endless intrusion into, and violation of, our personal and commercial communication

How is your app different than the rest of the market? Which unique need does it fill?

The Pryvate application is currently the only app on the market to provide a suite of totally secure communication services across email, voice calls, conference calls, video calls and messaging (IM) to protect consumers and businesses from cybercriminals, intruders, corporate espionage, hackers and more. A direct rival to all the existing mobile cybersecurity solutions but with enhanced features, superior usability and the ability to secure email communications, Pryvate makes it as simple as possible for people to secure their mobile communications.

What features do you hope to roll out to your app in the future?

We plan to keep enhancing and optimising the Pryvate app, and are looking to launch specialist business products in the future.

How did you decide which platforms to release your app on and do you plan on releasing your app to other platforms?

Pryvate was launched on the Apple App Store and Google Play store because these are the two most popular, most widely used platforms. We will look into additional platform options in the future, but nothing has been decided for now.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of the creation of this app?

The most rewarding aspect since we created Pryvate has been creating the only product on the market that can truly cover all the bases of encrypted communications. It's hugely rewarding to have delivered an all-encompassing, highly trusted encryption solution that covers all general forms of mobile communications.

What is the coolest or most innovative feature of your app?

The most innovative feature of Pryvate is that it genuinely provides fully secure communications, that other apps purport to provide but in reality don't or can't. Plenty of apps out there, which are used by billions of people on a daily basis, give people a false sense of having secure communications. But Pryvate utilises industry leading RSA 4096-bit encryption and AES256 key, as well as Diffie-Hellman key exchange to ensure the absolute highest level of security.

What surprised you most in your journey to create this app?

I am constantly surprised at the general lack of understanding consumers and businesses have when it comes to mobile security. They need to understand that their smartphones are a security risk and an open door to having their data hacked. Our aim with Pryvate is to help them realise that, and offer them a cost-effective, easy to use solution that helps them safely communicate with their friends, family and colleagues.

Which other mobile apps or technology have inspired you?

Rather than mobile apps, the smartphone itself has to be one of the most inspiring technology inventions. Within just a few years the smartphone has become a staple possession for most people, helping us run and manage our daily lives. It is both a blessing and a damnation at the same time given its almost constant daily use, but there's no question that it has changed the way we live.

Do you have any recommendations or advice for others wanting to create a mobile app?

It's important to involve the right team from day one. In terms of building the app it's key to get the correct architectural design and run numerous tests, including trying to break the app by entering all manner of special characters and having the app perform under stress. Following that, it is also important to only launch to market when you are happy with the performance and stability of the app.
