Recently we had an opportunity to speak with Vlad Belyaev, the CEO & co-founder at Reason8.ai about Reason8

Please share with us the backstory of what motivated you to create this app.

A few have no experience of meetings. Discussions, when properly captured, are the most productive way to solve problems. Currently, significant resources are spent on meeting capture and summarization. We have a distributed team and have to spent a lot of time recapturing what happened, following up on action items, and sending reminders for follow-up.

With all this we realised that conversations are the least digitized filed in business workflow and there is a great potential for capturing and analyzing of conversational knowledge within organizations. There is no mass product available to digitize meetings, but with recent advances in AI (Speech Recognition and Natural Language Understanding) it has become possible.

What features do you hope to roll out to your app in the future?

We plan to add in the next few months:

- Integrations with on-line calls and conference calls providers

- Calendar integrations with Office 365, Google calendar and an integration with Slack

- Faster processing time up to 10% of meeting time

- Seamless phone pairing for regular meetings

- Ability to work in noisy environments

What has been the most rewarding aspect of the creation of this app?

When people started using it and giving positive feedback that it really helps them to automate note-taking and increases their productivity.

What is the coolest or most innovative feature of your app?

We are able to automatically extract action items mentioned in a conversation and create a draft for a meeting summary based on it.

What surprised you most in your journey to create this app?

The most surprising thing is that people are not aware of the current level of speech and natural language processing technologies. And that it is feasible to capture an entire in-person meeting with good transcription accuracy and speaker attribution to get who said what.

Which other mobile apps or technology have inspired you?

Slack and Skype.

Do you have any recommendations or advice for others wanting to create a mobile app?

To launch the app as fast as you can and to start gathering feedback and real data. You will know about the reality a lot and this will help you to create a great product.

How did you decide which platforms to release your app on and do you plan on releasing your app to other platforms?

We support iOS and Android platforms because usually people on a meeting have different phones. Also we have a web client for convenient editing of meeting minutes and scanning through transcript.

How is your app different than the rest of the market? Which unique need does it fill?

We provide the best automated note-taking quality on the market because we use multiple smartphones for collecting audio from a meeting. Other solutions use one phone and this makes them unable to provide usable meeting notes for real in-person meeting, especially large meetings.

We have a strong tech behind with machine learning inside that we use to boost quality of speaker separation and drafting meeting summaries with automatically extracted action items.
