Recently we had an opportunity to speak with David Moran, the Founder at StepStack Ltd about StepStack
Please share with us the backstory of what motivated you to create this app.
3 years ago we got Barney, our Bernese mountain dog & Eddie (my 13 year old son at the time) started walking him every day. Almost immediately Eddie noticed the difference walking was having on his physical and mental health & it made him think about his friends who didn't get out so he did some research.
There's over 5 million teens in England
• 1 in 5 teens have a mental health issue
• 1 in 4 teens are clinically obese & if they live in poverty the figure is 1 in 3
• 83% of teens own a device and are online for up to 7 hours a day
• 16 year olds spend 75% of their time sitting down
Most people we spoke with said technology is the problem. We think technology is the solution.
Stepstack is a mobile app which motivates and incentivises young people to get more active. It converts the users steps into coins which can then be spent in a marketplace, an auction room or donated to one of our charity partners.
