Recently we had an opportunity to speak with Luis Pinto, the CMO at Netbeast about Yeti

Please share with us the backstory of what motivated you to create this app.

There are many smart home brands out there and that number is increasing. You can control almost everything at home, lights, sound system, security...However, you need to have one app per brand to control your devices. So what happens if you have many brands at home? You'll have to use many applications to control your home. Also, your devices won't communicate each other. So you'll end up with your phone full of apps and switching between them to control your home.

What features do you hope to roll out to your app in the future?

We hope that we can have our own cloud control so people can use devices when they are outside home even if some brands don't support it. Also, we think that Yeti won't only a mobile app but a technology everyone will use even on their TV.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of the creation of this app?

See how people start using an application that you've created and see how they support your idea is amazing.

What is the coolest or most innovative feature of your app?

Yeti has three main features:

- Groups: Yeti organizes your devices into groups for faster and simpler access. You can control different types of devices by location, creating rooms (living rooms, bedroom etc.) and managing them with 1 tap.

- Charms: Yeti triggers specific behaviors of your devices to create magic moments. Impress your guests, and create different charms like home cinema, romantic dinner or party.

- Routines: Yeti schedules routines that make your home do repetitive daily tasks for you. You can set your coffee machine to prepare coffee every day, just before you wake up. You can set the routines once and then forget about them later, knowing that Yeti will take care of it.

Do you have any recommendations or advice for others wanting to create a mobile app?

Go for it, look for a great team to make your idea a real app.

How did you decide which platforms to release your app on and do you plan on releasing your app to other platforms?

Using the technology we use to develop the app, we discovered that we could release our application for iOS and Android at the same time. Thanks to this we gained a lot of traction at the beginning.

How is your app different than the rest of the market? Which unique need does it fill?

Yeti is an application that allows you to control your smart home devices using a single app.

First, it scans your network looking for the smart home devices you have.

Right after you can start controlling your smart home devices as universal control remote for your home

Finally, you can customize and set the application to make it adapts to your lifestyle.

What surprised you most in your journey to create this app?

Something we've done along the process of creating the app is getting feedback from people and our users. Something that surprised us is how people get involved with our application and how they sare their feedback and opinion about the app. This has helped us a lot to improve it

Which other mobile apps or technology have inspired you?

We've been inspired by Facebook, Slack and other tech companies that we love. We believe that if we work really hard everything is possible.
