Recently we had an opportunity to speak with Michael Jones, the Marketing & Communications at ZorroSign, Inc. about ZorroSign iOS Mobile App

Please share with us the backstory of what motivated you to create this app.

Our CEO and co-founder, Shamsh Hadi, has dedicated his career to advancing technology while advancing sustainability. At ZorroSign, he created a market solution that does both! From a technology perspective, ZorroSign’s platform uniquely brings the privacy, security, and data democratization capabilities of blockchain to digital signatures. This exciting union of web3 technologies means businesses, governments, organizations, and individuals can Z-Sign any time, any place, with the cryptography and immutability of blockchains.

And from a sustainability perspective, having the confidence and capability to move paper-based document workflows, approvals, signing, sharing, and storage to an entirely digital format means businesses, governments, organizations, and individuals can live a paperless life! ZorroSign further supports sustainability efforts with our Save a Tree, Plant a Tree program, plus larger environmental initiatives such as Plant for the Planet, the One Tree Planted NPO, and the UAE's “National Carbon Sequestration Project.”

How is your app different than the rest of the market? Which unique need does it fill?

While the digital signature market is a growing and important niche unto itself, we are proud to bring the privacy and security of blockchain technologies, which expand digital signature capabilities, into a larger data security solution. By leveraging the cryptography, data decentralization, and peer-to-peer consensus of blockchain, ZorroSign secures your digital data and documents in an immutable and transparent way that enables trust across potential strangers.

For quick example, the cryptographic techniques used by blockchains to secure data include digital signatures and timestamps, which increases trust across participants. The transparency of the decentralized data storage defeats attempts to manipulate or change data across transactions, and the decentralized peer-to-peer network prevents any one node from compromising the data set via successful phishing or ransomware attacks. This allows us to fulfill digital signature, user authentication, document verification, data security, and cybersecurity needs!

What is the coolest or most innovative feature of your app?

We believe our entire platform reveals the innovation and care we bring to digital privacy and security for documents, but we are particularly proud of our recent advanced integration with Provenance Blockchain!

This crucial integration allows ZorroSign users to store digital document information—including signers, signatures and transaction metadata—on the Provenance Blockchain, such that our platform is now operating as a cross-chain data security solution. Purpose-built for the financial services and insurance industry, Provenance Blockchain is used by more than 70 leading financial institutions and delivered the first blockchain-native consumer loans, first asset-backed securitization on blockchain, and the first bank-minted tokenized deposits in the United States.

How did you decide which platforms to release your app on and do you plan on releasing your app to other platforms?

So many of our customers are on Apple systems, we launched our entirely redesigned mobile app on iOS first. Our Android mobile app will be launched in the weeks ahead! But anyone with a browser can use ZorroSign’s data security platform built on blockchain by simply visiting https://app.zorrosign.net to start a free 14-day trial license.

Which other mobile apps or technology have inspired you?

We are huge Apple fans at ZorroSign, and love the innovative designs of that market leader. We also admire CrowdStrike and the brand identity it has forged in cybersecurity. But ultimately, we hope to carve our own path—delivering an aesthetic, design, and user experience unique across all mobile apps!

What features do you hope to roll out to your app in the future?

We are constantly expanding our data security platform built on blockchain, always seeking to improve our user experience, and adding privacy and security features. Later in 2023, we will allow users to delegate other users for a fixed period of time to sign digital documents on their behalf, we will integrate with the WhatsApp messaging platform, and launch an entirely new Android mobile app. Early in 2024 we will be increasing our Provenance Blockchain integration and introducing new features unique across all web3 technologies.

Do you have any recommendations or advice for others wanting to create a mobile app?

Don’t wait, start building! Built a minimum viable product (MVP) as quickly as you can and test it. Put it on the market, share it with as many people as you can, and listen to their feedback on use, features, and benefits. If you have truly solved a problem for people, customers will come!
