Recently we had an opportunity to speak with Steven M. Strohl, the Founder at Unrapp, LLC about Unrapp

Could you share a challenging factor of the development or marketing process?

Finding the right team is important, especially with a Startup. These businesses don't become a hit overnight. You need the whole team to buy into the dream and what this idea can become. It is a long process and perseverance is key. I'm really proud that our team has taken the time to do it right! Yes it may take a little longer to do things right but in the long run it will be worth it.

Do you plan on releasing your app to other platforms as well?

Yes, we plan on launching an Android version this winter and a Web version in 2016. Wearables would be a cool integration but the technology would need cameras in order for us to launch on those platforms.

If you could describe your app in ONE word, what would it be and why?

Creative. Unrapp has many different uses despite the obvious. Uploading images, selfies, post cards, memes, eGifts and more. Our photo-editing feature is top notch allowing users to add borders, effects, stickers, text and custom drawings. We wanted to give users a unique platform to be as creative as possible when sending Unrapps to friends.

Were there any unexpected surprises post-release of your app?

The app has only been live for about 2 months however the biggest surprise thus far has been the overwhelming support and positive comments from our users. I am very excited to continue improving the app in order to deliver greatness to our users.

What features do you hope to roll out to your app in the future?

We are very excited for a series of features that will allow users to send eGift Cards and share reaction videos to other social media apps. Our most ambitious goal with the startup is to create an Unrapp SDK to use during the checkout process in order to allow users send gifts to our users from any site/app on the web. We are hopeful our patent-pending application will be a household name for all ages to enjoy.

What is the coolest or most innovative feature of your app?

Going Green! In our eyes, Unrapp is a win-win-win! Win for the sender, win for the receiver and a win for Mother Nature. Each year 4 million tons of shopping bags and wrapping paper are produced in the US alone. This translates to an estimated 30 million trees that are cut down simply to transport and wrap our holiday gifts. I am most proud that Unrapp is setting out to make a dent in this figure and reduce the carbon footprint one Unrapp at a time. ("Save a tree, send an Unrapp")

What is your favorite mobile app to date and which have inspired you?

I try to support all the big apps such as Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook. I'm not a big gamer but I know there are a few good ones out there. I just don't have time to game anymore. Facebook has become a little too timely with long thoughtless rants, auto play videos and unwanted game invites. Snapchat seems to be the most popular amongst my single peers but I'm married so we don't have the same objectives. If I had to choose one, it would be Instagram for its ease of use and quick scroll feature. When I buy myself a few minutes I like to scroll through quickly and get a visual of friends and what they are doing.

What was your main objective or motivation for creating your mobile app?

In an ever-changing world where mobile technology continues to break down barriers we sought out to take mobile gifting to the next level. With Unrapp, a mobile application, you can send egifts, images and goods to friends and family while the front camera records their reaction as they “Unrapp" the gift on the screen. This allows users from across the street and around the globe to be quasi present during all gift exchange experiences. After a series of disappointing experiences sending holiday gifts to family across the country we decided to take things into our own hands. We missed witnessing the raw reactions and emotions that are expressed when breaking big news to family and watching friends open gifts. In today's day in age many Millennials are moving away from home and we wanted to bridge that distance with an app that delivered the reactions of these experiences while allowing recipients to "Unrapp" gifts with a mobile device.
